Official Release of and 5.0

Terminotix is proud to announce the official release of LogiTerm 5.0 on January 17th 2011. LogiTermWeb is the corporate version whereas LogiTermPro is the freelance version. LogiTermPro 5.0 is a major upgrade of LogiTermPro 3.2.

Here is a partial list of the new features:

• Unlimited database capacity (LogiTermPro);
• A more user-friendly and intuitive interface;
• New and more powerful search syntax rules;
• Terminology results are displayed in the Bitexts results grid;
• PPT, XLS, XML, HTML and INX (InDesign) files are translated in a MS Word table, and the translated text is then reinserted into the source file;
• New terminology record template in XML format enables almost unlimited possibilities. (LogiTermWeb only);
• The Repeated Sentences function is now integrated into LogiTrans function
• New XML-type bitext. This new format is lighter, quicker to index and does not display the language tags. It can also contain local formatting like underlining, bold and italics;
• The bitext creation function offers more options: sentence, paragraph, colon or semi-colon-based segmentation; and cleaning of unwanted segments during alignment process;
• LogiTermPro is fully Unicode and can support most languages;
• In most of the functions, documents can be added using the drag-and-drop command.

As of January 17th 2011, the price of LogiTermPro will be increased from $ 535 to $ 795 CAN. If you order LogiTermPro 5.0 by the given date, you will pay $ 535 CAN and get the 5.0 upgrade free since it is included in the one-year support contract. If you already have a valid support contract with Terminotix, you will get LogiTermPro 5.0 free. Please note that the price of the one-year support contract will be increased from $ 85 to $ 130. Terminotix – Consoltec Partnership

Terminotix and Consoltec [ http://consoltec.ca/ ] today announce a partnership to develop and deliver analysis and pretranslation solutions integrated into translation request management. Consoltec, a Montreal-based company, is known for its translation workflow management software, FlowFit [ http://consoltec.ca/product.html ]. Terminotix is expanding its range of computer-aided translation solutions and professional services by integrating a LogiTermWeb API (Application Programming Interface) into FlowFit. FlowFit, which helps organizations efficiently manage translation requests, is used by companies such as Blake, Cassels & Graydon. The integration between the two products enables automated document analysis and pretranslation using the bitext and terminology databases of LogiTermWeb. Interoperability: Exchange Standards for CAT tools

The only way CAT tools can exchange their translation memories, terminology records, translation projects or segmentation rules easily is by using exchange standards, thus enabling a more open world. With these standards, data are no longer locked in software.

Here is a partial list of the main standards:

• The TMX standard (Translation Memory eXchange) is used to exchange translation memories between CAT tools. Most CAT tools can export or import TMX files;
• The TBX standard (TermBase eXchange) is used to exchange terminology-oriented data between terminology management or CAT tools. This exchange standard still awaits full acceptation amongst developers because it is much more complex to manage than translation memories, there is no universal terminology template and every client has its own terminology needs. For those reasons, LISA came up with a simplified version of TBX: TBX-Basic;
• The XLIFF standard (XML Localization Interchange File Format) is used to exchange complete translation projects between CAT tools. This standard has yet to be integrated in all CAT tools but is gaining popularity. The OASIS (Organization for the Advancement of Structured Information Standards) is behind the XLIFF format;
• The SRX standard (Segmentation Rule eXchange) is used to exchange segmentation rules found in the alignment process of CAT or alignment tools.
